Detection of biological fluids

LabGenetics offers the possibility of performing tests to detect certain biological fluids: semen, blood, or saliva. This test is conducted in a quick, completely confidential, and fully reliable manner.

SEMEN DETECTION

We can detect the presence of seminal fluid in any garment or stain on various surfaces using a chromatographic immunoassay with monoclonal antibodies for Semenogelin. This is a protein secreted by the seminal vesicle involved in semen coagulation. Additionally, if the detection is positive, the presence of an internal control with a known concentration in the kit allows for the relative quantification of the amount of semenogelin detected.

If desired, it is possible to obtain the genetic profile (of Y-chromosome STRs) from the semen stain and compare it with the profile obtained from a male sample provided by the requester to determine if they match the same person or individuals related through the paternal line.

SALIVA DETECTION

We can detect the presence of saliva in all types of stains on various surfaces, even if mixed with other fluids, using a chromatographic immunoassay with monoclonal antibodies for human alpha-amylase. Additionally, if the detection is positive, the presence of an internal control with a known concentration in the kit allows for the relative quantification of the amount of alpha-amylase detected.

It is possible to obtain the DNA genetic profile from saliva stains to identify the donor and also compare it with the profile obtained from a sample provided by the requester to verify if it is the same person.

BLOOD DETECTION

We can detect the presence of blood in all types of stains on various surfaces using a chromatographic immunoassay with monoclonal antibodies for glycophorin A, a transmembrane protein present in red blood cells. Additionally, if the detection is positive, the presence of an internal control with a known concentration in the kit allows for the relative quantification of the amount of glycophorin A detected.

It is possible to obtain the DNA genetic profile from blood stains to perform genetic identification of the donor and also compare it with the profile obtained from a sample provided by the requester to verify if it is the same person. Additionally, it is possible to determine whether the blood present in the stain is of human origin or not.

We have pioneering professionals in the field of DNA testing for paternity and maternity, as well as for kinship, genetic profiling, biological fluid detection, ancestry studies, and DNA tests for individuals affected by irregular adoptions or infant abductions.

Samples to be analyzed

Object (utensil, garment, etc.) with possible traces of semen, saliva, or blood, depending on the test to be requested.

Taking and sending samples

If it is not possible to send the object, you can rub the stain with a cotton swab previously moistened with water, and then let it air dry for 1 hour. Once dry, place the swab in a paper envelope (always avoid plastic).

Once you have the samples, you need to download and complete the request form. Finally, send us the samples and the request form by registered and urgent postal mail or by courier. Shipping costs are at your expense.

Payment Methods

To receive the report with the results of your test, you must have completed the payment beforehand using one of the following methods:

  • Payment gateway when requesting the kit
  • Bank transfer (to the account number indicated on the request form)
  • Credit card
  • Credit card or cash at our San Sebastián de los Reyes facilities
  • Cash on delivery for the results, with an additional cost of €20
Sending results

The results of your DNA analysis will be ready in approximately 24 to 48 hours from the receipt of the samples. You will receive your report, completely confidential, through the medium you prefer (as indicated on the request form):

  • Email
  • Regular mail
  • Courier service, with an additional cost of €15
  • In-person pickup at our San Sebastián de los Reyes facilities, with prior identification of the person requesting the test

LabGenetics holds ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certifications. Additionally, we meet all technical and methodological requirements necessary to achieve accreditation under the UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard for Forensic Genetics tests.

We have pioneering professionals in conducting DNA tests for paternity and maternity, both informative and with judicial validity, as well as prenatal and postmortem tests.

We also perform relationship tests such as grandparentage, mitochondrial DNA for studying maternal lineage, Y chromosome for studying paternal lineage, and complex relationship studies using autosomal STRs. Additionally, we offer genetic fingerprinting, biological fluid detection, biological forensics, ancestry studies, and DNA tests for individuals affected by irregular adoptions or newborn abductions.
