Early Alzheimer’s tests: what they consist of

Publicado el: 12/02/2023

Alzheimer’s, one of the most prevalent diseases in the world, is a disease that affects the nerve cells of the brain, progressively reducing the patient’s brain mass. Its most common symptoms are memory loss, disorientation and deterioration of physical and mental abilities.

Thanks to medical innovations, many diseases can be detected long before their first symptoms appear. In this way, it is possible to slow down the symptoms of the disease and even make them appear weaker and cause less damage. Although there is currently no cure capable of dealing with this terrible disease, early Alzheimer’s tests allow the disease to manifest itself to a lesser extent, thanks to subsequent treatment to delay the characteristic symptoms of the disease.

Early Alzheimer’s tests can detect whether the patient’s cognition is beginning to fail. This, although not the only one, is one of the first symptoms of this disease.

Genetic testing involves searching for mutations in the patient’s genes related to the appearance of the most obvious symptoms of Alzheimer’s and other neurological diseases. These tests are especially relevant for people with a family history of Alzheimer’s or similar diseases.

At LabGenetics, a clinical laboratory specialising in all types of genetic testing, we have the most advanced medical equipment to perform early Alzheimer’s tests with complete reliability. Contact us to request additional information about the early Alzheimer’s tests we carry out in our clinical laboratory or to make any other type of enquiry.
